Weekend Fun with Grandma and Grandpa (a.k.a Papa)

Brian's parents came to visit this weekend. They want to be called Grandma and Grandpa, but Brennan has taken to calling his grandfather Papa. He says it with a really cute intonation though and the first 'pa' is short and quick, like P'pa. He sounds a little European. I need to get this on video to share with you.

We had a very nice weekend together. We went to the mall on Saturday morning to look for a winter jacket for Brennan. While there, Brennan wanted to take a ride on the train, as usual.

Later that day, we went to the Reston Town Center for Oktoberfest. We had fun dancing to the German Band. After wearing me out (that kid is heavy!), Brennan took to running loops around the dance floor with the other kids.

There was also a little carnival there and Brennan went on a few rides. We waited online for the Dragon Ride, which ended up being cut short because there were too many parents on the ride weighing it down! I felt bad for the little guy, but he seemed to be okay and ready to move on to the next ride.
Brennan was really funny on the whale ride because he was screaming as though it were a giant roller coaster. Don't worry, it was from excitement, not fear. He kept asking for "apple," which was a spinning ride (think spinning tea-cups, but instead of tea-cups, it was apples.) Brian manned up and took him once, but that was enough for all of us :)

On Sunday morning, Brennan got to spend two hours at the playground. As you can see here, he was happily dragging Papa everywhere with him.
