35 Week Doctor Appointment

I had my 35 week appointment today. I am actually 35 weeks and 2 days today. So far, everything is looking good. I am going to the doctor every week now. My fundal height is right on track at 35 centimeters. For anyone who doesn't know, fundal height is the measurement in centimeters from the top of the pubic bone to the top of the uterus and it should approximately correspond to the number of weeks along you are. My blood pressure is good. My biggest problem has been heartburn and ankle/feet swelling at the end of a long day, but nothing that is causing my doctors to be concerned. As long as everything continues to go well, I plan to work up until the end and will not be sent for another ultrasound. Today, my doctor told me that if I go passed my due date, they will allow me to go up to 10 days late, trying to let nature take its course, but after that, they will induce. I am just focused on my due date and am hoping the baby comes right on time.

I am going tomorrow to interview a pediatrician, so hopefully all will go well and that'll be one less thing hanging over our heads!

Meeting Miss Meghan McGee

This weekend, Brian and I took our last trip before our little guy arrives. We headed up to Butler, PA, which is a Pittsburgh suburb, to visit Sara and Kenny McGee and their 11 week old baby girl, named Meghan. Meghan is absolutely adorable and a very good baby. I feel like she hardly cried all weekend, even at night, and we were in the room across the hall from the nursery. Sara and Kenny went to Alfred with Brian, but I've really enjoyed getting to know them over the last year. Kenny's mom babysat on Saturday, while we went out to a nice dinner. And, Sunday, after getting an introduction to the Indy 500, and even a little Nascar, Kenny (a.k.a Grill Master) made some great steaks. We did a lot of eating this weekend... I'm scared to hit the scale at my doctor appointment tomorrow morning! Sara & Kenny, thanks for your hospitality this weekend, we had a great time! We hope you'll make it down for a visit sometime later in the year!

Kenny gave Brian a glimpse of what new fatherhood had in store for him. Brian had fun holding Meghan and getting a little training, as Kenny would say! Brian declined to volunteer for diaper duty, but he won't be getting off the hook that easily when our little one arrives! I was getting some good kicks and movement on Sunday night, and Brian had fun feeling how active the little guy was!

My Surprise Baby Shower at the Office

Last Wednesday (May 7) at work, my boss, Tom, and three of my coworkers, Lisa, Garland and Rashmi, threw a surprise baby shower for me. I was really touched. They had decorations, that Lisa was in charge of, including a bouquet of "flowers" made of baby socks, shower favors and a shower game where they smooshed candy bars into diapers and based on the look and smell, you had the guess the candy. Tom worked with Garland and Rashmi to order and bring in food. The cake was from Cenan's Bakery (http://www.cenansbakery.com/) in Vienna, VA and it was awesome! Garland coordinated with Brian, so he was able to come in to the office and attend the shower. They were able to keep me in the dark by having our Internal Audit team schedule a meeting with me for the time of the shower.... I had no idea what I was walking into since I would have never guessed that the audit team was in on the surprise! It was such a nice gathering and we received a lot of generous gifts. It's so nice to have this much support from my coworkers.

Two Pregnant Gals

Here we have it.... Mariah and I, side by side. The first is from her shower in March, when I was 27 weeks and she was 29 weeks. Then, side by side at my shower, where I was 31 weeks and she was 33 weeks. Mariah's twin girls will be coming soon in early June... if my little one comes on time, it'll be the end of June for me. It's getting close!

More Shower Pictures to Share

I received the photos from my in-laws today and added about 28
pictures to the slide show. If you click on it, it will launch in a separate window and you will be able to see the pictures in a larger size. I thought I'd show you some of the hard work that went into creating the favors. There was an assembly line to put them together! They came out great! Thanks again Mom and Dad Huszagh & Pecorino for all of your hard work!

Here is a great shot of my mother-in-law, me, my mom, my sister, Debby, and sister-in-law, Kerry. I think we make one fine looking bunch! Brian and I know how fortunate we are to have so much love and support from our family and friends. My coworkers threw me a great shower at the office today. I'll write more about that later in the week!

Back From My Baby Shower

Brian and I drove up to NY last weekend for my baby shower, which was on Saturday, April 26. My mom and mother-in-law worked together to put together a wonderful shower! The shower was at my parent's house and the decorations were a Noah's Arc/Animal/Turtle theme. It was great and went right along with our room decor. The favors were adorable little buggies filled with goodies, and I know that my father and father-in-law helped put them together. Thanks Mom and Dad Huszagh & Pecorino for putting together such a wonderful event! My grandmother and aunts helped with food, and it was all delicious - thank you all for helping. And to everyone who attended, thank you for coming out and for all of the generous gifts we received. We were only able to fit about 1/3 of the gifts in the Xterra on the drive back, but my father filled the mini-van and made a round trip from LI today with the rest (thanks Dad!). We are just starting to go through everything and will be filling the room with the wonderful baby gifts we received. I'll be posting pictures as I go. We have the furniture and the glider arrived via Fedex today, so I can't wait to put it all together (or, better stated, to watch Brian put it all together!)

I only have the photos from my mom's camera right now, and unfortunately, I didn't get as many pictures with other people on that camera, although this is a nice shot with my sister (and check out Mariah's profile behind us... her sweet twins girls are doing great!). However, I know that my in-laws got some good shots of their side of the family, as well as me with the moms and sisters, and I think Mariah got a few shots of the two of us, so I am hoping they'll pass them along so that I have more to post than just my side of the family and myself opening gifts, but for now... that's what I have to show you. I am 31 weeks along in these pictures.
