Long Island Blizzard

The day after Christmas, the snow started falling. The Dubins were planning on visiting us at my mom's house that morning around 11. Before they arrived, Brennan again passed out asleep on the couch. He hadn't been napping, so the lack of sleep was really catching up with him.

We had a nice visit with Mariah, Howie, Avery and Olivia, and Alice Martin. Not too long after lunch, they decided to get on the road before the snow got to be too much. We headed to the Pecorino's that afternoon to spend a few nights. The normally 20 minute drive took nearly an hour because of the snow, but we made it there safely. Brian and I were supposed to go into New York City with my family on Monday to see Billy Elliot on Broadway, but due to snow, we couldn't get into the city. Thankfully, Broadway allowed for exchanges, so we didn't have to lose the tickets. I was starting to feel pretty congested and didn't mind missing a cold day in the city. Instead, I had a relaxing Monday at my in-law's house. I let Grandma and Grandpa (who Brennan renamed Grammy and Papa) entertain Brennan while I rested and caught up on some reading on my new Kindle. On Tuesday, Brian headed back to Virginia and Brennan and I went back to my parent's house. Aunt Debby, Uncle Pete and Meg were there and ready to play in the snow with Brennan.

Debby and Brennan made a monster-sized snowman.

Peter and Meg worked on building a snow fort, but Brennan kept destroying it. Brennan jumped all over Peter's work and had fun throwing snow balls at him.

Pete found an old sled in the garage and Brennan wanted to be pulled all around the yard. The snow was so deep that Pete ended up getting a serious work-out. Brennan kept wanting Meg to ride on the sled with him. He kept telling Pete to go faster.

When Brennan went down for a nap, Pete and Meg spent another 2+ hours outside working on the fort. When Brennan woke up he had a pretty serious snow fort to play in!

We had a great time in NY. We got an extra visit in with grandparents before heading home and spent Thursday with the Dubins, where we spent the night and left for the airport from their house. Brennan was really excited about the flight and did great on the airplane!
