Before heading to NY, we opened our gifts at home. Not that Brennan fully gets the concept of Santa, but we told him that Santa was doing a practice run that night and dropped off a few gifts for him ahead of time. We didn't buy too many things for him because I knew what was coming his way on Long Island. The toy saxophone and tent with tunnel were a hit.
On Christmas Day, Brennan was up early. I haven't mentioned it here yet, but he climbed out of his crib the week leading up to Christmas and since then, has been in a big boy bed. The transition to the bed was rough and having only had 4 nights in a bed before going to NY made our week in NY a challenge. He would wake up between 1-2 AM everyday and then would go back to sleep, but then was up for good between 4:30 and 5:30 AM. It was exhausting. We were up before 6 on Christmas day and managed to get the rest of the adults up early to open gifts. My photos of the actual gift opening didn't come that great and capture too many of us adults in pajamas, so I am going to refrain from posting them here! However, after opening gifts and eating breakfast, Brennan was beat and we found him passed out asleep in his Christmas outfit on the chair in my parent's family room! He stayed like this for over an hour. We had to wake him to head to the Pecorinos.
We spent the afternoon at the Pecorinos and then headed to my grandparents house later that evening for dessert. We had a great day and Brennan got so many wonderful gifts. I'm sure you'll see many posts in the coming months with him dressed in new outfits, playing with all the great new toys, games and puzzles he received!
