Where oh where are the great big puddles?

To say it's been a rainy week is an understatement! It has been pouring! Overall, this May has been so strange... very cool and rainy compared to what we are used to. May usually starts to feel like summer. This year, it's hard for me to believe the pools are going to open next weekend. With all the rain, Brennan has been asking to jump in puddles, but, we don't get a lot of puddles on our street/driveway/yard and he doesn't have rain boots. He has become a little bit obsessed with Dora the Explorer, whose sidekick is named Boots for the big red boots he wears. Brennan has been running around in his snow boots for weeks now. On Sunday, during a real downpour, he put his snow boots on and asked to go outside. Brian was kind enough to take him. My pictures didn't come out very good, but here is Brennan letting the water from the side of the road run over his feet. The end of the driveway was the best spot for splashing, since all the water runs there on its way to the storm drain.
He soon realized he could take a rock and put it in the water that was running down the curb and watch the rock go down the storm drain.
It took days for his snow boots to dry out, so I figured we might as well get some rain boots. Although Brennan really liked the Hello Kitty boots at Target, I convinced him that the fire chief boots would go better with his fireman costume. He agreed and since bringing the boots home, they are all he wants to wear. Of course, since the boots have come home, we haven't had much rain! But, it's all good. He was wearing his boots out on the deck to clean up the mess of sand that he created with his sand table.
