We signed Brennan up for t-ball this spring. He's had a couple of practices, but this Saturday, the league held their opening parade and ceremony. Apparently, they've been doing this for decades when they open spring season. I ran out to Dunkin Donuts at 7:30 in the morning to pick up munchkins for Brennan's team and the place was packed with players! Brian took Brennan to the start of the parade route, while Tyler and I headed to the end to wait for the festivities - and to make sure at least one of us had a car on site! Tyler was less than thrilled to be sitting in one spot for a half hour, but at last, the parade started.
There were about 4-5 fire trucks that kicked things off, but they didn't drive into the middle school parking lot, which is the path where we were sitting. Next came the Chick-Fil-A cow, some girl scouts and the high school drum line, who sounded pretty good!Every team from t-ball to the high school teams were in the parade. Each team came in driving in the back of a truck. There were a lot of teams.
Brennan is on the Eagles. His coach was driving. Brian and another dad ended up in the back with the kids.
There is Brennan and Brian waving.
The teams unloaded and made their way to the field. They sang the national anthem, had some speeches and threw the first pitch. Brennan said that part of the morning was very boring!
After the ceremony, there was a bounce castle obstacle course, a rock climbing wall, throwing and batting games for the kids. Brennan ran into three boys from his kindergarten class. They seemed very happy to see each other. After a bit of fun, we headed home since Brennan didn't have a game that day.
